Mehdi Talle, DO

About

Home Town: Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

Undergrad: UC Irvine

Life Before Medical School: For five years before medical school, I coached high school and youth club basketball, and worked as a basketball trainer. I was the assistant varsity coach at my alma mater and ran a youth club program in South Orange County. It was a privilege getting to teach youth athletes; in fact, discovering my passion for teaching and mentorship was one of the reasons I decided to go into medicine.

Medical School: Touro University Nevada

Why Ventura? This program offered me all I could ask for in what I wanted out of my residency training: a resident-first culture with attending surgeons passionate about teaching, a welcoming work environment where daily interactions in the hospital are friendly and collaborative, and a well-rounded and diverse rotation schedule with plentiful surgical opportunities in all realms of orthopedics. And to make it even better, this program offers all of that while sitting in beautiful Southern California, where you can see the ocean from the rooms of the hospital, and within a 2-hour drive to my family and friends.

Next Adventure: I hope to eventually settle down in Southern California and work somewhere where I can help teach medical students or orthopedic residents. Personally, I hope to travel more and explore Southeast Asia and South America.

Medical Interests: I hope to continue my orthopedic training by pursuing a fellowship, in either Sports Medicine, Foot & Ankle, or Hand Surgery.
