Ethics and Professionalism (PGY1s)

Presented by the Chair of the Ethics Committee, these bimonthly lectures highlight current ethical challenges in medicine and address concepts of professionalism.

Fracture Conference

Residents present several interesting fracture cases for discussion with faculty.

Grand Rounds

Each CMH discipline (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, Orthopedics and General Surgery) alternates presenting key topics related to patients cared for by a multispecialty audience.

Journal Club

Resident led sessions facilitated by faculty on specific musculoskeletal topics focused on teaching residents how to interpret and critique the medical literature.

Morbidity and Mortality

A monthly conference led by residents and moderated by faculty to review cases in which morbidity or mortality has occurred.

Morning Report

Residents review inpatient cases and ED consultations from the prior night’s call with the Program Director. After case rounds, the Program Director moderates a didactic session in which residents review OITE and AAOS test questions.

Orthopaedics Didactics

Weekly block sessions to review Orthopaedic specialty topics moderated by subspecialty faculty, including a structured anatomy course, ABOS Modules, specific cadaver and sawbone hands-on training. PGY-1s and PGY-2s are required to complete shoulder and knee simulation modules on our VR simulator.

Patient Safety and Quality Improvement

Required IHI Open School courses are supplemented by lectures with group exercises under the supervision of the CMH VP of Quality.

Specialty Board Review

OITE sessions occurring multiple times per month, moderated by the Program Director, reviewing relevant topics particularly important for passage of the certifying board exams.

Specialty Conference

Residents present several interesting cases in reconstruction, sports, foot and ankle, hand, and trauma for discussion with faculty.

Teaching to Teach (PGY1s)

The Program Director reviews principals of effective teaching in an interactive session.
