Which residency programs does Community Memorial offer?

We offer residency programs in Family Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, and Psychiatry.

Which fellowship programs does Community Memorial offer?

We offer a fellowship in psychology and a non-accredited fellowship for existing Community Memorial residents in quality improvement and patient safety.

How many residents did each program accept for the 2022-2023 academic year?

Family Medicine accepted 8 residents, Internal Medicine accepted 8 residents, Orthopedic Surgery accepted 4 residents, Psychiatry accepted 4 residents, and General Surgery accepted 3 residents.

Does Community Memorial follow the NRMP for “all in” policy?

Yes. Additional information regarding the “all in” policy may be found on the NRMP website.

What is the deadline for residency application submission?

Please submit your application as soon as possible for the following academic year. Applications will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis after ERAS opens. Applicants will be notified if they are invited to interview.

When will the interviews be held?

Typically, interviews are held from mid-October through mid-January.

Does Community Memorial sponsor visas?

No, we do not sponsor visas.

Does Community Memorial accept applications from foreign medical school graduates?

Yes, we accept applications from graduates of International Schools of Medicine who possess a valid ECFMG certificate and, if a non-US citizen, an appropriate US Visa.

Are audition rotations required to be considered for an interview?

No, audition rotations are encouraged but not required.

What are the minimum COMLEX/USMLE scores for consideration into the residency programs?

Minimum COMLEX/USMLE scores vary by specialty and may change year to year. Please contact the appropriate Graduate Medical Education coordinator to obtain current minimum score requirements for your program of interest.

Do I need to have a California training license prior to starting my residency?

Yes. Effective January 1, 2020, the State of California requires first year residents to apply for, and obtain, a California training license prior to starting residency.
