Thomas Golden, MD

Program Director
Golden Thomas, MD

Dr. Thomas Golden is the Program Director of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Community Memorial Healthcare. He studied engineering at the U.S. Naval Academy and molecular biology at University of California, San Diego. Dr. Golden earned his medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine and did an internship in Family Practice at UCLA Harbor General Hospital in California. He completed a Family Practice Residency at Ventura County Medical Center and subsequently completed the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at the San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program. He is certified through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

He is an active member of the American Association for Hip and Knee Surgeons. He possesses expertise in a wide range of Orthopaedic procedures, specializing in hip, knee, and shoulder surgery. These procedures include anterior hip replacement and robotic knee replacement, as well as minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Golden has served the medical community and his patients for more than 40 years. He has held several leadership positions at Community Memorial Hospital, including Chief of Surgery and Director of the Same Day Surgery at CMH. In 2013, the Medical Staff elected Dr. Golden as Chief of Staff for a two-year term.

Currently he serves on the Board of Trustees of CMH. Dr. Golden is an active member of our Ventura community, contributing to several charities benefiting medical research and public education. In his free time, he is an avid runner and enjoys boating, fishing, backpacking and spending time with his wife, 3 grown children, and 7 grandchildren.

Emily Benson, MD

Associate Program Director
Benson Emily, MD

Dr. Emily Benson is the Associate Program Director of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Community Memorial Healthcare. She is an orthopedic trauma surgeon who specializes in complex long bone and peri-articular fractures. She is originally from San Antonio, Texas and completed her schooling and training in New England. She obtained her undergraduate degree at Brown University and her medical doctorate at Boston University. She completed internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts. She completed an additional orthopaedic trauma fellowship with San Diego Orthopaedic Trauma and Fracture Specialists. She serves as Director of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department at Ventura County Medical Center. She is an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and served on multiple committees.

Her interests include global orthopaedics, and in 2018 she developed a non-profit organization called Viet Cal that is an orthopaedic exchange program between the United States and Vietnam. Each year she takes a team of orthopaedic surgeons and residents to remote areas of Vietnam to collaborate with local orthopaedic surgeons on challenging cases. Her hobbies include surfing, triathlons, and spending time with her family.

Petros Frousiakis, DO

Frousiakis Petros, DO

Dr. Petros Frousiakis is the Associate Program Director of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Community Memorial Healthcare. He is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine and Adult Reconstruction. He received his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Frousiakis completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Community Memorial Healthcare in Ventura, where he was recognized for his excellence in patient care and received the Outstanding Resident Award. He then pursued subspecialty fellowship training in Sports Medicine at the prestigious Southern California Orthopaedic Institute, where he was afforded the opportunity to treat professional athletes from around the globe.

With over 10 years of experience in the field, Dr. Frousiakis has a broad range of expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of various orthopaedic conditions; he is particularly interested in cartilage restoration, complex multi-ligamentous injuries, minimally invasive surgery, and robotic assisted surgery. Dr. Frousiakis is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest medical research and advancements in the field of orthopedics.

He is a member of multiple professional societies and is the author of several peer-reviewed journal articles and text book chapters. Dr. Frousiakis also serves as the Vice President of VietCal, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing orthopaedic expertise to underserved communities in Vietnam.

In his free time, Dr. Frousiakis enjoys outdoor sports, traveling, and spending time with his wife and three children.

Casey Pyle, DO

Pyle Casey, DO

Dr. Casey Pyle is the Associate Program Director of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Community Memorial Healthcare. A former resident and member of the second graduating class of Orthopaedic Surgery at Community Memorial, his deep-rooted connection to the institution is evident in his commitment to its growth and success while preserving the tight-knit and selfless resident culture. As a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery, he is core faculty for the foot and ankle rotation, where he mentors and guides residents during their third year of training.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, he finds joy in his personal life. He cherishes the love and support of his wife, Lauren, whom he met at Community Memorial while he was a resident. They have four wonderful sons together. Balancing his passion for teaching, innovation, and patient care, Casey makes sure to have fun and enjoy his profession. He also prioritizes making time for leisure activities. Whether it's playing baseball or Mario Kart with his children, spending weekends at Carpinteria beach with his family, indulging in TV series binges with his wife, or adding to his sneaker collection, he finds fulfillment in both his professional and personal pursuits.
