Orthopaedic Surgery

In the first year, orthopaedic interns spend 6 months on Orthopaedic surgery, with the other 6 months distributed between inpatient Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Radiology, General and Vascular surgery, ICU, and an elective in Infectious Diseases, Rheumatology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Plastics, or Anesthesia.

In years 2 through 5, residents spend time on General Orthopaedics, Spine, Adult Joint Reconstruction, Sports Medicine, Trauma, Pediatric Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic Oncology, and Hand, as well as 6 months as Chief.

Rotations are generally 4 week blocks.
Vacation time is taken in short blocks during rotations.
